WHY PRETENDING?

WHY PRETENDING?
Ayalew Mekonnen
You might have come across a person who has become famous by publicizing somebody else's creative work as his own. It is not also uncommon to see an individual running to get thanks at the disadvantage of the right person in different spheres of life.
To me pretentious talk and pretentious use of phones and cars is nothing short of claiming somebody's result of hard work. I say this because I have closely seen what has happened to a certain driver in my former organization. The organization has got more than fifteen code 03 cars. Using one of these cars the driver is accustomed to behaving like owner of the car he drives. Manager of the Organization has been informed about the driver's conduct. On the last Monday evening he was late to give service because of spending time with his girlfriend who considers him as owner of the car. The Manager with two police men has been following him. And they saw him beating up his girlfriend sitting in the car. The Manager appeared and immediately asked why he was beating her. Before he responds she started to argue for him in spite of his mistakes. Unfortunately the Manager seized the key from the car. "Previously the driver was advised many times not to do so”, the manager said. So on the spot the driver has lost both his job and his beautiful lady. Why pretending?
In connection with this let me share with you about a certain employee. The guy was newly hired person. He is a kind of person whose words speak louder than his actions. Two days after he received letter of employment he entered office and picked up phone in the office and started speaking to naught. He called nobody but he wanted to show how busy and committed he is. While he was talking over the phone to nobody a telephone technician appeared and even entered that office. He sat to wait for him till he finishes calling. The newly hired employee finished his talk and asked the technician what he could help him. The technician said "I came to your office to install the phone". Shame on the employee!
You might also have seen somebody who carries big cell phone that doesn't work but who holds closer to his ear acting as if he is calling. I have met a person who is also on hot chatting over mobile phone by the time there wasn't network coverage in the city.
In related move some people may try somehow to grab attention by using few words of certain language they don't know well. Instead of admitting their inability they tend to mix up or misuse words and confuse others. Knowing ten words of French language couldn't make me fluent speaker of the language. Better to admit than pretending. A renowned author of You Can Win, Shiv Khera says a person who thinks knows a lot has also a lot to learn!
